Overarching Primary Responsibilities

 

The primary responsibilities of the Learning Strategist are: curriculum alignment to Colorado Academic Standard Competencies; development of resources, curriculum, and continuous improvement driven by student success; and management of the Competency Specialist team (CS Job Description). This position will also be considered the on-call substitute for their Competency Specialist team when needed.

 

The Learning Strategist collaborates with other GOAL/RMDA/Summit staff to support data-based decision-making, promote student success, and ensure that each student has every resource needed to achieve success as defined by the development of a competency based model.  Learning Strategists work side-by-side with the Social Emotional Team to ensure that Social Emotional Development and growth is integrated with core competencies.  The Learning Strategist reports to the Office of Learning (Chief Academic Officer/Chief Officer of Support Services).  Learning Strategists abide by and support the mission, vision, values, policies and procedures of GOAL/RMDA/Summit, as well as relevant federal/state policies and regulations.  


Expectations and Work Environment

 

The Learning Strategist will be primarily assigned to a specific location as determined by the Chief Academic Officer. This position will require periodic statewide overnight travel to provide individualized training to staff and to help with specific high needs students in content area curriculum and or Social Emotional Learning.  Additionally, this position will be required to fill a variety of shifts as needed for Competency Specialists when necessary, which typically could be any eight hour time slot between 9am to 9pm, including possible weekend coverage.


Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and manage the development and alignment of standards-based curriculum competencies, instruction, and assessment plans and learning strategies.

  2. Create and support resources designed to help successfully navigate students to competency based success.

  3. Support curriculum modifications and accommodate ESS students per documentation provided by the student’s IEP, ELLP, 504, ILP and/or ALP.

  4. Continuous improvement of the Competency Specialist team customer satisfaction based on data-driven decision making.

  5. Management of the Competency Specialist team as evidenced by meeting minutes, schedules and appropriate documentation of individual performance measurements and improvements.

  6. Assist in the coordination of and provide professional development as it relates to needs identified out of data analysis and staff requests.

  7. Conduct data collection and analysis of competency based studies in order to identify needs and gaps of both individual and groups of students

  8. Collaborate with stakeholders to innovate online teaching methods, engagement of students and other ways to increase whole student growth.

  9. Demonstrated experience supporting complex, deadline-intensive projects

 

General Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in student recruiting and retention activities.

  2. Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a customer service focused environment.

  3. Maintains a high level of communication (both verbally and in writing) with staff, students, and parents to deliver program information and address individual student needs.

  4. Model professional, ethical standards and great customer service strategies when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community.

  5. Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits, such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.

  6. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation:
Commensurate with education and experience, computer and cell phone provided, stipend for out of town overnight accommodations according to travel policies.
